Day 4 - Shabbat Shalom!

*Davening *Meal with Peter, Naomi, and Bonnie

*Walking Tour of Old City *Shalosh Seudos with Chaya Vance

*Migdal Dovid Light Show *Dinner in the Old City

After davening at either the Kotel or the Tzemach Tzedek shul, we met up for lunch with our sponsors, Peter and Naomi, along with Peter's sister, Bonnie. We went around the table, and each student introduced themselves, expressed gratitude to Peter and Naomi, and named their favorite part of the trip so far. Peter spoke about his family and described how they had come to Yerushaylayim. He also explained the origin of the trip.

After the meal, Mrs. Touger gave a roof top tour of the Old City.

Walking on the Old City’s walls turned a line of Tzoharites on a Shabbos afternoon into historical warriors. We found ourselves paving through the sunset and fresh Jerusalem stone. We were taken by the heights, treading over tall steps and the footprints of giants. –Yael Scholle

Jerusalem

off white walls

cover you

and reflect the off beating hearts

of the off the beaten path souls

that roam your alleys.

For Shalos Suedos, we were hosted at the house of Chaya Vance, a baalas teshuva and an artist with an amazing story to share with us.

We chilled at Chaya Vance’s house (super cool) and she told her life story. She taught us a very valuable lesson: Being religious is more fulfilling than travelling the world and owning a B&B in the heart of New Mexico.

We attended the light show in the Tower of David which projected two thousand years of Jewish history in a feat of sound, light, and beautiful graphics.

The light show took the very foreign concept of the Beis Hamikdash and its destruction and built it up into an actual reality. I literally felt like I was watching the Beis Hamikdash be destroyed 50 feet in front of me.

–Aliza Engle

For me, the light show was more about the music than the lights. And that music, man… It took over me, and when my heart was completely synced with the eerie piano tunes and my body was floating, it was over, and I was left, mindblown and wanting to create too. -Yocheved Andrusier
